The real Apple

So in a lawsuit filing against Apple for their false claims of iPhone 3G data speeds, the lawyers for Apple had some telling comments:

Plaintiff's claims, and those of the purported class, are barred by the fact that the alleged deceptive statements were such that no reasonable person in Plaintiff's position could have reasonably relied on or misunderstood Apple's statements as claims of fact.

Basically, no reasonable person should believe anything in Apple ads. Classy. :)

Remind me again which company is the big evil corporation again?

That's pretty standard law talk for puffery--like the difference between "insanely low prices" and $199. You can rely on the latter.

Right, a price is one thing. Showing a demonstration of your product that's 10 times faster than the thing can actually operate is a little more dishonest in my opinion.

10X faster kind of goes back to the reasonable person question, but more power to you if you want to go after overarching commercials. We can certainly use a lot less of them. I prefer not to watch any commercials, which has made life a lot more pleasant.
